A guide to using SilkBridge.

First time ordering products from SilkBridge? Start here.

Step 1. Selecting an Item

Method 1

Search for the product using the Marketplace and select from the results. You can choose to search for results from Taobao, which we recommend for most people, or for Alibaba, which we recommend for bulk purchases. For a more broad selection, use more general keywords and ensure all words are spelt correctly. You can also paste a SilkPID into the search bar to look for a product.

Method 2

Find the product that you want to buy on a Chinese domestic website, such as: Taobao, Tmall, or 1688. Copy the product link and paste it into the SilkBridge search bar.

Step 2. Purchasing an Item

Select the variant of the product that you want to order, then click Order now. Enter in your quantity and any special requirements for the product.

You will be asked to enter Silk User ID. If you don't have one, you can create one by clicking here. You must use the same Silk User ID across all orders that you make. Your Silk User ID is what connects all of your stored items, shipped parcels, and payments.

When you pay, you pay for the product price and for the domestic shipping fee. At this point, your product has not began its journey to New Zealand yet. You will still need to pay an international shipping fee later.

Payment Methods: Bank Transfer via Internet Banking (in NZD)

After payment, a SilkBridge agent will purchase the selected product for you, or let you know if there are any problems. The selected product will be shipped to a warehouse in China.

Step 3. Inspection and Storage

Once your product arrives at the warehouse, it will be checked for any obvious defects. Your product may be taken out of its packaging, and photos may be taken for you to view. Additional photos may be taken for you at a fee. A SilkBridge agent will contact you as soon as possible if there are any problems.

The warehouse provides free storage of your product at the warehouse for 90 days from arrival. You can extend this once by 30 days for a fee of NZ$10.00, for a total of 120 days. After this, your product may be disposed.

At this stage, you can do the following:

Option 1

Begin your products' journey to New Zealand. Your products will be packaged, and shipped to New Zealand via a delivery route of your choosing.

Option 2

Purchase more products and send them together. You can repeat steps 1-3 and continue to purchase more products, and then ship all of your products to New Zealand together. This saves you more on international shipping fees.

Step 4. International Delivery

  1. Submit the Select your products to submit them for delivery to New Zealand. Some products may not be able to be shipped together on certain routes.

  2. Select a shipping route. Some shipping routes allow for insurance in case of loss. Some shipping routes may be more reliable, quicker, or cheaper than others.

The shipping route fee is only an estimation. It is calculated according to the parcel's estimated weight and volume.

The final shipping fee is verified by the shipping company. If there is a discrepancy between the final shipping fee and the amount that you paid, you may be asked for an additional payment.

  3. Enter shipping information and make the payment.

Payment Methods: Bank Transfer via Internet Banking (in NZD)

After payment, an agent at the SilkBridge's supplier will package your items into a parcel, reinforce it (if applicable), and then send it to the shipping company according to your selected shipping route.

Step 5. Waiting for your Parcel

You can track your parcel by clicking on the supplied tracking link.

There is always the possibility that accidents may happen during international package shipments. Such circumstances include delays, confiscation, taxes, package damage, missing packages and more. SilkBridge cannot control or prevent accidents that may happen when your package is in the hands of a third-party logistics company or the customs, nor will we be able to guarantee the service quality of other companies not affiliated to SilkBridge. However, we aim to provide the best service possible to our customers and will inform you beforehand of the shipping situation for each shipping route or country you select and do everything we can to aid you if problems occur.

Step 6. Delivered Parcel

Once we have been notified by the shipping company that your parcel has arrived, we will mark your parcel as delivered. Enjoy your products!
